Default T-mob. SDA Activesync connectivity

Help anyone.

I'm trying to conect my SDA to my XP computer, but can't get it to create the partnership.

So far I've tried the following:
1) turned off Norton firewall,
2) turned off Windows Firewall (well it was already off, I just verified it was off)
3) turned off Norton Antivirus
4) added port 26675 to the allowed ports in Norton (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...nc/norton.mspx)
5) hard reset on the phone

When I look at the device manager in XP, it shows unknown device in the usb devices, I tried deleting that and re-installing activesync. It didn't work.

Additionally, I was able to get a bluetooh connection set up between the phone and the computer, but active sync doesn't see it.

Anyone have any other ideas.. ??

Yeah, sounds like you don't have AS4.1 . Make sure you have 4.1 if you're connecting a WinMo 5 device.

Thanks for the response...

version 4.1.0 - build 4841

The computer is Win XP home SP2

oh, other things I've tried...
1) used different USB cable
2) tried uninstalling the Usb "unknown device" while in Safe mode. (i was able to uninstall it, but it was recreated when activesync was re-installed).

still no go.

Just to clarify what I mean by "no partnership" - I plug in the SDA, and activsync starts up... but it just says "connecting", and the little green symbol just spins.

Have you tried a different USB connector on the PC?

yes, I have tried different USB connectors - I have 2 in the front, and 2 in the back -- I've tried them all.

also - I'm using it directly (no hub).

UGH!

My idea box is almost empty. Hard reset the device?

I would uninstall AS and then do a fresh install. Sounds like something is a little messed with AS. A fresh install might help. And it's easier than a hard reset.

I've tried that several times.... I've been pretty amazed that the uninstall doesn't delete the Activesync directory and that it has to be deleted manually.

I've done the hard reset also.. took me forever to figure out how... (with the device off and unplugged, press and hold the 2 softkeys then press the On button for 2 seconds,,, press 0 when prompted).

I'm gonna try to install this on a different computer tonight,, if it doesn't work, I'll take it back to T-mobile...

Man this is frustrating... thanks for the help though

I have a problem too... My C600 used to work fine with Activesync 4.1. Until one day when it failed working, it froze and I had to hard reset it. Still it wouldn't work. It would remain stuck on "Looking for changes". I tried just about anything. I thought it was due to Norton Antivirus 2006. I formatted my PC, reinstalled Windows XP Professional with SP2 + all updates from Windows Update site. I did not install any firewall or antivirus and also I disabled the Windows Firewall. Still I cannot synchronize. This time I get "No partnerships. Not connected" although the Activesync icon is green as if connected. I cannot browse my device, I cannot do anything. And all this happens on a fresh install of Win Xp and on a factory-default SPV C600. This in unbelievable.
