Default Is the SMT 5700 Ever Making it to AT&T?

http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/340/C15189/

"We've seen this smartphone kicking around on AT&T rebate sheets for about a year now and yet the SMT 5700 has yet to launch with the wireless provider. Well, word is that they are finally getting around to releasing this budget-minded QWERTY phone to the public and it couldn't come any sooner. The trouble is that because it's been delayed so much, the SMT 5700 isn't all that desirable anymore."

If they really want to get this one off the ground the right way they should launch it with WM 2.0 instead of 5.0. I mean really, if you are going to release a new device with a vintage OS, you might as well go all the way don't you think?

It's like buying hardware for Vista+ and install Windows 95 on it

Not the kind of a mobile experience everybody's going after these days.

Default i wont be surprised they sell

To many consumers, price is the number one consideration above all else. If AT&T can price this thing out cheaper than all their other devices, I bet they sell a few. Many users dont do a lot of research and comparisons.

And I really wonder how many consumers are even aware of windows mobile... Microsoft has never really marketed it to consumers (until recently).

Good point about the low awareness that WM is still having among the mainstream users. After years for WM being designed and marketed especially for the business environment, Microsoft has yet to do some work regarding the private consumer.
Nevertheless, with the features the HTC Diamond Windows Mobile based phones for example are showing off these things will rather go smoothly for WM
