Default Cavalier Input Issues

I am having some major issues using Live Search (both versions 1.0 and 2.0) and Yahoo! Go on my Dopod C730 Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard device. When I try to input any letters using the keyboard that also have a number or certain other characters associated with it, it will not input the letters. As an example, if I were to try to input "123 Jeff Rd", it would show up as "123 J155 24". This appears to be happening on all Dopod C730 and HTC C630 devices. I am using mine in the US and have it set on US English.

The one thing I have noticed is that the Cavalier doesn't seem to be using xT9. I'm not real sure if this could have anything to do with this problem, but I have been unable to find any leads as to what might be causing it.

similar issue on a Tmobile Dash. The input field I am working with is locked in numerical symbols and will not let me insert a "." as needed in an IP address. Any suggestions ??
