HP iPAQ 510 514 Voice Messenger
Morning,
I just got my hands on the above smartphone, it's my first "non touch" phone/PDA that I've had in years, so it will be interesting to see how I get on with it, already missing SPB Pocket plus
I literally just got the device today and posted an unboxing video on my website, http://www.pocketpcsoft.net
Does anyone else own this device and have any tips/must have software to share?
regards,
Greg

So it's your first Smartphone device? Please don't judge all Smartphones based on that device. It's an interesting choice by HP - hardware that's 2 years old. I wish the device the best of luck, but the ONLY thing it has going for it is the voice software.

cheers Mike, I guess it depends what you define as a smartphone, I've had a P800, p910, iPAQ 6915 and 6815 previously.
What other smartphones are around that run Mobile 6 and are a similiar size to the HP 514?
regards,
Greg

I don't define those as Smartphones. They are Pocket PC devices. ;-)
Windows Mobile Smartphones (Now called Standard) are any Windows Mobile device without a touch screen. So, the BlackJack, Dash, Tornado, Vox, etc...
There's not much new in the way of Candy-Bar phones for Windows Mobile (Smartphone). There was a couple announced from LG and Toshiba at CES this year, but we haven't seen them hit the streets. The closest device with WinM06 Standard would be the Vox, but the Vox has a slide out QWERTY Keyboard.

Re: HP iPAQ 510 514 Voice Messenger
Greg,
I just got this device. I like it a lot. It replaced an iPAQ 3715 and a cell phone. A tip that I have is that you are not able to creat a Word doc with the device. A way around this for me was to create a blank doc on my PC and copy it to the device. When I want to create a doc i just load the blank doc, and when finished do a file save as to save with a different name. I use little notes on various subjects at work and this helped me a lot.
