Default Qtek 8310 Reviewed by Howard Chui

"A while back I reviewed the i-Mate SP5M. The SPM5 had extra media buttons in front which were kind of awkward looking. Now if you follow Smartphones you'll know there's a version sans the media buttons called the Qtek 8310/i-Mate SP5. The lack of media buttons changes things a little. First off the 8310 is much more elegant looking than the clunky looking SP5m. Secondly the keypad is much easier to use it's larger. Otherwise the SP5m is the same phone as the 8310."

Howard Chui takes a look at the Qtek 8310, also known as the i-mate SP5. Having recently reviewed the media enabled brother, Howard tells the story like it is. The phones are identical, with a couple minor visual differences. It's all in the appearance these days. Whatever happened to "inner beauty"?

I'm of the opinion that they wasted too much space on the SDA's music buttons, which as far as I could tell, don't do much other than bring up WMP. They could have been placed elsewhere, on the sides like the Walkman phones or made smaller.

Howard reviewed a Windows Mobile phone! Wow! That doesn't happen too often.

Yeah, I would rather have the buttons a little smaller or located on the side like you mentioned. But hey, you can't have everything, right?

I am finally glad that someone has reviewed this phone. One of the complaints about the 8300 or SP5m is the small keys, but I find the keys on my 8310 really easy to use.

I like the way that the keys are angled just enough so you can feel where the next key starts.

Although, with all that I like about the keys, I still end up "Powering off" the phone accidently sometimes when I meant to "Key Lock" it. Oh well.
