Default PocketNow Looks at the Motorola Q9 Smartphone

http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=973

"My favorite thing about the Motorola Q9h is the keyboard. It's got a great tactile feel and soft-touch buttons. The Q9h also has Bluetooth 2.0, a 330MHz TI IMAP 2420, Windows Mobile 6 Standard, 2.4" 320 x 240px 64K color screen, Quadband GSM/EDGE, 2100Mhz UMTS/HSDPA and a 2MP camera. The extra RAM and ROM are very welcome additions as is the fast processor."

Adam over at PocketNow, has posted a review of the Motorola Q9 Smartphone. He's included a lot of pictures, screen captures, and even a size comparison chart. The Q9 is high on my list to replace my aging BlackJack. I haven't made any decisions yet, but I'm really liking the Q9 and that new Samsung slider we talked about yesterday. Which would you pick?

After taking a trip to China with my Blackjack and still waiting to see how much AT&T is going to rip me off for checking email and browsing, my next Smartphone will need 3G, WiFi and good battery life. I usually turn off 3G on my Blackjack, even with the extended battery, because I don't want to charge it everyday with light to medium usage.

Since AT&T doesn't own the towers over there, I really wouldn't call it ripping you off

If I am not mistaken, if you call AT&T now and make them aware that you are leaving the country, more often than not you can get an unlock code for your device so you can use a SIM card from a carrier in the country you are visiting. This way you won't have to worry about high roaming charges!

Actually the handset is unlocked and I did get a China Mobile SIM card. However I needed to check work email and I didn't get a SIM with a data plan so I just used my AT&T SIM for that. My bad

The i620 is ugly, the Q9 is big and heavy, and the Cavalier and Vox are insipid. Its a bad time for Smrtphones.

Oh man, that sucks. The good news is, since you were checking work email, maybe they can pay your roaming charges

I have a Blackjack and have a difficult time understanding an "upgrade" to this device. I like Smartphones and all, but have a real difficult time understanding the need to upgrade every 3 months or so. Where's the true innovation? WM6? Let me see it on my Blackjack first. I'm still waiting for that upgrade.

I agree. I won't even put WM6 on my BlackJack, unless it comes with the carousel home screen plugin they provided in the SGH-i600. That plugin - to me - is a real upgrade of functionality.

That said, if I have to pick, I will pick the q9 over the slider - if the CPU is indeed faster.

I'll pick whichever one has GPS builtin. Now that would be an upgrade!
Until then, meh.
