Default Windows Mobile Development - Fast and Predictable

http://www.windowsfordevices.com/news/NS2947134933.html

"In developing software stacks for new mobile devices, "overall development time and development time predictability are two of the most critical issues facing developers," according to Venture Development Corp. (VDC). Recent VDC research suggests that Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform offers the fastest and "most predictable" development cycle among device OSes."

The actual development time for Microsoft's Windows Mobile was a full week shorter than Palm, and Symbian was not too far behind them. In my experience, most companies don't look at projects from this angle. Unfortunately, they already decided the platform long before the development cycle has begun.

What screams out to me in that chart is the differentials. Symbian seems to actually take much longer than expected. From a corporate standpoint, I'd think that's even more important -- slippage is where a company gets irate more than a planned extra week up front.

Most of the times, the enterprise already has a mobile platform, that they chose for their communication needs and end up being stuck with it for all their future needs.

Like my company is stuck on BlackBerry. :-(
