his?? Are you refering to Bill? He hasn't even touched a phone yet.

They have WM5 running on the HTC Universal, and the Samsung i300. Otherwise, they haven't displayed another phone running the OS, yet. :-( And there's no mention of updates. I don't expect that they will cover that. It's really up to the operator/manufacturer.

Neil Enns, Mike Hall, and Seth are all showing some really cool demos in VS2005. 8)

Neil built a Smartphone app that uses SQL Mobile, and .NET CF2 using the camera API, integrates with Outlook appointments

Seth built a neat little Pocket PC multi player game using VS2005

Mike Hall built a XP embedded kiosk and displayed the really cool hibernate once and resume many feature.

I was refering to Neil's demo, with the restaurant app. I love those new .NET CF 2.0 and VS 2005 features

Now that the fun is over, here's some of the highlights that I quickly scribbled down during the event.
  • 40 different device makers, 68 mobile operators in 48 countries are now sporting Windows Mobile
  • A great deal of attention was spent on Media - format, rights, Playlists, star ratings - all working in a seamless fashion with the desktop.
  • Updated Word (now supports tables) and Excel (ability to create and view charts on the mobile device)
  • Included PowerPoint viewer
  • Contact photo is taken from Outlook's contact and synced [This is something I was calling for over a year ago!]
  • USB 2.0
  • Persisting Data
  • Easy updates for operators
  • Backwards compatible

Some other tidbits that came out for developers:
  • Camera API that works across all devices
  • GPS API
  • Picture picker API
  • State Notifications
  • Bluetooth support
  • Code-less landscape support
  • COM interop
We're going to see some awesome apps built for WinMo5!
