While this is no direct solution, you could just put them in low-bitrate MP3 files matching the bitrate of your WMA files. For lectures, you don't need a high quality MP3, so 64kbps or even 32 or lower would work. You never mentioned the bitrate of your WMA files, but I assume they're not lower than 32.
Also, make sure you're playing from Local Content and not a Playlist, as the Playlist may not have been updated when you moved a file around.
