I have found that the O2 XDA (also from Orange) sync & charge cable works flawlessly on my Orange SPV (Canary).

These are cheap now and can be found on eBay easily.

Also, for MP3 playback, I have found this adapter to be well worth the money too....

One more note, I was using this adapater to listen to MP3's in my car through one of those cassette player adapers (this works good too, BTW) & my wife called. The phone stopped WMP, rang through the car's speakers - nice.

For fun (& since it was my wife :wink: ), I just hit "accept call" without removing the adapter to see what would happen. The SPV then became a hands free phone!! I spoke to my wife, she could hear me & I could hear her on the car's sound system - YMMV, but I found this to be a real bonus for the low price of the 2.5 -> 3.5 adapter !!!
