Default SMS - Edit number before sending?

Using O2 xphone, after I have created a sms and assigned a contact no, I am unable to edit this number as it displays the contact name and not the contact number. Thus, for international contacts, I have to have 2 entries in my sim - one for calling and another one for sms (+ sign precedes the number).

Does anybody else face the same problem? Any workarounds?

First of all are you on GSM network, because I know for sure that GSM networks are supposed to handle + sign and apply the International Code and City/area code intelligently. I believe Phone's have nothing to do with it.

Look for posts made by Arne.

Also I have my international contacts with + sign infront of them..
+CountryCode AreaCode PhoneNumber

And it works.

But have to say I do have a couple of numbers that has not worked with the above convention. But works with the 011 prefix!
