Is WMP the only player that plays what?

I don't like video in WMP (i have some BMW films movie in PPC WMP format, it doesn't look that great).

I prefer PocketMVP for .avi files. It will play .mpegs also, but not as well as...

PocketTV is supposed to be the best for .mpegs, I am not sure about the difference between the free and pay versions of the software in terms of performance or options.

PocketMVP is very unstable for music, but works well for video.

Actually, if you only want to be able to download short material from the net for viewing (commercials, movie previews, etc.), then PocketTV is the better, more hassle-free choice. If you want to be able to convert your own DVD collections into something you can view on your PPC, then go with PMVP (but expect a rather steep initial learning curve).

In all honesty, while I exclusively use PocketMVP, PocketTV is actually the far superior player technically IMO, capable of playing 500kbps MPEG files w/o breaking much of a sweat whereas PocketMVP begins to struggle with DivX files at around 300-350kbps. However, DivX is a far superior format compared with MPEG-1 and is the only choice worth considering if you want to convert your own movies, which goes to explains why most of us prefer PMVP. DivX will give you better-quality audio and video at lower bitrates than MPEG-1.
