 I hear the might be offing Data in this movie. That Brent. (The actor) Demanded it.

With all due respect to star trek history Rick "the moron" Berman has done a wonderful job of flushing the entire franchise down the toilet.

I personally have liked the Next Gen movies more then the original (With the exception of II, and IV) The cast seems to have more "fun" with each other vs the original cast. Something that shows through on the screen and does make a difference in how the story flows.

As for the series. Next Gen was my first and best loved of the series.
The original series has its charm but the acting is almost unbearable. Esp from Shatner. Kirk must have done some serious upper body strength training. I was always impressed how he could take out anyone with a single Karate chop. Bam.....down he goes. Wish I could do that.

Never could get into DS9. A space station?!?! What the heck where they thinking?!?!!?? Voyager again had its charm. But lacked substance. If 7 ‘o 9 didn’t show up in that oh so tight ….. *coughs* anyways if she didn’t show up the show would have gone under way before season 7.

Enterprise. I started off thinking this is blasphemy. Flying in the face of what Gene wanted for the future. Next Gen was a good blueprint of how Gene saw the future. No poverty. War a distant memory. Then what happens. DS9 shows up blasts the crap out of that idea. Voyager stayed on track with gene’s vision of Star Trek. Then I hear about Enterprise. How its going to be grittier. More down to earth. And thinking “well the other shoe dropped. Berman finally gave into Paramount, the greedy bastards, and give them the show they wanted not what Gene would have wanted. But I watched and dang it if I don’t like Enterprise A LOT. 8O The previous series always took at least 3 season to find their groove. Enterprise already has a nice beat just starting out.

I do think the series is starting to be played out though. The need to take it into new directions. Back when there was little to NO info on Enterprise. I saw a post on a discussion board theorizing that the show might take an Outer Limits approach to the series. Where each week a new crew. A new situation. A new location. Obviously that didn't happen. But its a good idea nonetheless.

Everyone else is aging gracefully. Very hard to expain why an android is aging though, and it is showing. Go back and look at a season 1 episode and look at this trailer. Everyone has aged, but "Data" shouldn't. Brent is 52-53 years old for pete's sake.

I think he wants to reprise his Mama's family role. See #54.

I read that the Director of the new movie is doing things his own way, ie. not following the guidlines very closly. In some cases the actors have told him that my character would not do it that way and he says it does now.

So it should not look like a Berman or Frakkes.

I also love the new Enterprise. I have been collecting them for viewing on my iPaq durning slow times, Its great to be in a meeting and watching Enterprise on the iPaq while everybody else is bleeding from the eyeballs because the meeting is so boring.

Ed....Brent is 52?!?!?!!?!?!? 8O Dang!!!!
Ummm *thinks* What if Data got into a horrable cab accident and messed up his face.

K now I'm worried. This Stuart Baird has only 2 major titles under his belt. Executive Decision and US Marshals. Neither of which I was impressed with. 8O

I guess I've been out of the loop for a while. I could sworn that Franks was to take the directing reins again?!?!!? He did such a good job in the last 2..... I pray that Burman has the muchachas to keep this guy from going off and doing his own thing. Tom. while he may have the directors chair Berman is still producer. I have a feeling if the cast got bullied around by this guy they would all be complaining to Berman and...well use your imagination.

We'll see come this December. If it is bad. *pumps his shotgun* It be a Stuart hunt'n season. Here wittle director director director
Just kidding.....

That was actually Gene Roddenberry's choice for a new series if you can believe it....not sure about the singing though.

OK, guess the ST Geek in me is coming out, but there WAS a ST-TNG episode late in the series that "explained" Data's aging. It was the one where he met his "mother" who turned out to be android like him. Anyway, apparently, there was an aging routine built into his subprocessors that caused him to physically age, and eventually perhaps even die after a really long life. Apparently built in so he'd be more human... or to make his human companions bond with him and not feel out of place.

Now, if I were a true ST geek, I'd be able to name the episode and quote dialog and translate into Klingon.

That was a routine for Data's mother. He did not have that program or the abilities to "age."

It's not that hard to "crack" - just think of the English equivalents, using proper casing.
