Default Interesting Ebooks

Has anyone come across a site where we can download free ebooks that are actually useful.

Most free ebook offers I have seen are just useless material which most people wouldnt want to download anyway.

Are there any e_libraries or places with ebooks on interesting subjects like:
- History (roman, greek ancient, greek mythology, european) etc.
- philosophy (plato, aristotle)
- political (cold war, european etc.)

stuff like that.. ?

Here's a site that will get you started. I like reading all of the older books because the leave out people's personal agends, overtly unnecessary sexual content and at least have a plot that I might not be able to figure out after the first 10 pages. History is really history and nto a perception of a mix of legend and facts. The fiction books that I like are the ones from Haggard and Burroughs. Good reading, friend....

Personally I like Blackmask as it is a much more friendly site to browse through, and offers many different formats. I would suggest they are a good starting point...

They also offer some very cutting commentary on the world of ebooks which never fails to entertain me while I'm grabbing something to read...

I wouldn't consider everything written by authors such as Dickens and Tolstoy and all the other classics to be useless material, but that's just my opinion.

If you like SciFi: http://www.baen.com/library/

http://www.blackmask.com has nearly all the Project Gutenberg books in various ebook formats. One of the missing one is this copyrighted book which is very, very good: Winn Schwartau's Terminal Compromise about Internet war-fare (the author is an expert in computer security) - something you may experience in your lifetime - http://digital.library.upenn.edu/web.../lookup?num=79 which I made into iSilo format on my old web-site http://www2.wmin.ac.uk/dybdahlj/termcomp.zip

http://www.mslit.com/default.asp?mjr=FRE witn both free and commercial ebooks in .LIT format (you can find most - if not all - of them at Blackmask as well).

Here is the link to an old post that has a very extensive list (all links) of ebook sites.

Here is a very good free site that isn't on the list

Default Fan fiction

You might try looking for fan fiction sites. For instance, there's a Stargate library archive with dozens of stories written by fans. Then there was the Harry Potter trilogy fan fic that was really pretty good. I imagine there are dozens of these sites around.

Maybe we should start a fan fic site thread,
