Default Cingular XPressMail - Does the Push Work?

Anyone have any luck with the Cingular XPressMail?

The manual and scheduled sync works. But the Push or SMS driven sync does not. I am able to do the traditional pull sync to get to my corporate/desktop mail via Cingular's XPressMail.

I am using the MPx220 on T-Mobile network. :-)

Since the Push is supposed to be SMS driven, I am guessing the fact that a T-Mobile user is using Cingular mail wireless sync service is not working. :?

Has any Cingular customer tried this service. Is the push working?

And what about T-Mobile folks. In case you didn't try it. Sign up because the XPressMail website does not restrict non-Cingular customers from signing up. It's free! And let me know how it goes. This sync app has great potential if the sync works.

I think Cingular has done a good job. The underlying technology that enables Wireless Sync is provided by a company called Seven.

I am using their Push based solution for the first time. But have been using their Personal Edition Redirector (thru Sprint PCS) for almost 3-4 years now. They were one of the pioneers in enabling access to corporate emails outside work on your cellphones, Pocket PC and laptops using web browsers. Pretty impressive.

I think the problem in my case is that I am T-Mobile subscriber using Cingular wireless sync. The SMS message for triggering the email sync is orginating on the Cingular network. It could be that Cingular is not sending the SMS because it is not a valid Cingular cell number. :-(

But there is that remote possibility that Cingular has goofed up. ;-) I just want to confirm the root cause for the problem. But right now I would not blame Cingular or Seven.

kris, what i meant is what you said much clearer. i agree that it could be because your on tmo. yes, i've also heard good things about seven.

my employer is currently piloting the intellisync push solution which is pretty cool. they have clients for palm os, pocketpc, and wm2002. i used the palm os version first on my treo 600 and recently loaded the wm2002 version onto my mpx220 and it runs fine.

push email is very cool, although since the mpx220 doesn't have the qwerty thumboard like the treo 600, i'm really just reading email.
