I've bought phones off ebay in the past. This time, I had a friend in the US buy one and ship it to me.

That unlocking website - GSMPhoneSource.com also sells unlocked units. I don't know how the price compares to ebay, might it would be worth checking it out.

Hi Mike Temporale and porpackage I've noticed that you two have been exchanging information regarding the Samsung i320 internet setups. I recently purchased an unlocked i320N a couple of days ago. Im also on the Fido network but it seems that no one can help me setup the internet connections for this phone GPRS, WAP, Pocket MSN and so on. Fido gave me all the information but told me to call Samsung to help me input it into the phone but Sam. Canada doesn't even have specs on this phone. :x

This is my first PDA style phone so Im quite dumb when it comes to setting these things up. I've tried entering the information in myself but with no luck. I was wondering if one of you can place a step by step tutorial on what to do for these setups. I dont mind giving you guys a couple of buck$ for your time, I already spent a bundle on the phone whats a couple more to get it to work properly. By the way what is WAP anyway?

I can tell you this though, I excepted much more ease of use with this PDA phone.

much thanks

you can email me at jmgraphix@hotmail.com

Hey John,

It can be a little confusing at first. But you'll find it's not that bad once oyu get working with it.

First thing to do is hard reset that phone. I can't recall the exact steps for hard reseting it, but you should find something in the start menu that would kick it off for you. This will wipe out the last owners detials and settings.

To enter all the correct settings, just press Start / Settings / Connections / GPRS - If there is anything in this menu, delete it. Then press Menu / Add

The settings should be as follows:

Connects To: The Internet
Access Point: internet.fido.ca
User Name: fido
Password: fido

Leave Primary and Secondary DNS along with IP address blank.

Let us know how things turn out.

Hi Mike Temporale thanks for the info. I now have my Internet Explorer working but when I go to the WAP browser it still doesn't work. What is this WAP browser anyway. It seems to be important because I here everyone talking about it. Is there some other information that I should set as my wap setup. I know fido sent me some info for wap setting such as:

WAP setting:
APN: wap.fido.ca
IP address: 205.151.011.011
Home Page: fttp://wap.fido.ca
user: fido
pass: fido

but I tried to enter this and it still doesnt work.

Also how do I setup the Pocket MSN aswell to receive hotmail email, I cant seem to get this right either. I think I should of just stuck with a basic phone :?

any new info will help. thanks again.

John

I don't use WAP. I think most people use the term WAP to mean surfing from a mobile phone. Did you buy a data plan? If so, that's all I use. WAP sites tend to be a scaled down expereince.

If you really want to use WAP, I would try removing the fttp:// from the Home page you have listed. Also try it without an IP.

But to be honest, I wouldn't waste me time with WAP. You've get a much richer expereince with real data and real sites. 8)
