Yeah there is Skype. With it you can make voice calls to other Skype users. There is both a PPC and Desktop (both Windows and Linux) version. Oh and did I mention that it's free?
thank u so much my friends, i tryed now skype and works perfect concting from any wireless connection. i can talk to any skype user, is amazing and the quality soud is very good!! now i'm going to install sjlabs program and make a compare. thanks so much
I haven't tried Skype on a Pocket PC (can't with my iPaq), but the quality on my desktop is a ton better than FWD. However, FWD allows free calls to the PSTN, so I keep it around.
I'm using Stanaphone, with SJ Lab's SJPhone configured to use their servers. They allocate a phone number and while my Pocket PC is on I can not only place calls to landline and mobile but receive from them too. Check my write up at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3016

Wow, glad you posted that. Think I'll start using that especially on trips.
edit: maybe not...the only area codes offered are 347 and 914.

Why? Do you have any problem with these area codes? I guess more will be offered later. You select the area code and they give you a number on that area. You don't have to live there
