If I can afford a new Pocket PC, it will be the 5550. I'll hand my 3870 down to the wife, who will hand my old 3650 down to my daughter.
I like this succession practice of yours. I think I will do the same. So, when Dell comes out with X7, I will pass the X5 to girlfriend ... Next year, when the X( is out, I pass the X7 to girlfriend ... and pass along the X5 to someone else ... hence my depreciation cost will be zero. Good thinking Pony
I definately intend to upgrade, but I have budgeted  for September, which means I'll be able to see how other vendors (like Dell, Toshiba and Mitac) answer the iPAQ devices and I should be able to get exactly what I want (WiFi/BT/128 Mb RAM/CF/SDIO).
If no one comes out with what I want, I'll probably get a 5550 :way to go:
Then again, if the rumour machine is right, there may be some nice devices arrive Q1 2004 which by September is not far away.... but then my wife wants my 3970, and I cant let her down 8)

I personally, as soon as I can save up the money and possibly sell my 3950, will buy a 5550. And I'm going to use the excuse of using it for school to help justify it! You know, taking notes, wireless "research" around campus....
It'll probably be about 5-6 weeks before I'm ready to buy, so hopefully some reviews will be out by then!
Umm, with all that equipment in a PPC, how much are you prepared to pay ? I personally want a device like that, but I am not going to spend more than $500 on a PPC -- I still have other needs in life, e.g. a radeon 9800 pro to replace my aging ti4200, 2x 512MB DDR400 memory for my server, mortgage payment, etc. etc. etc.

The iPAQ 5500 is $600, only $100 more than you want to spend.
As for those other things, why do you think God invented credit cards?
