Technically RAM is the fastest, but you won't notice any slowdown by installing it to SD card of ROM filestore. One thing to be aware of: not all applications work 100% properly inside the ROM filestore.

Remember that the internal RAM is like the RAM on your PC and the Storage card is your Hard Drive. Apps stored on the hard drive need to load to RAM to operate, so there is a startup hit, but once in RAM it depends on how much 'disk access' must occur, for data or program pieces. (The apps that are stored in RAM are like those RAM Disk things we used to make.)

Just like the desktop, 'hard drive' space is cheaper than RAM, and slower than RAM.

hmmmm my guess then is to install the aplications i install daily on my RAM, and the others that i use frequently on SD. Also use the iPaq File Store to store my documents, lists, wallet, maps, ebooks and so on so they are safe

i think i have read somewhere that a 256 SD card is like 8 times faster than a 64 Mb SD card. I am not sure but i think they were mentioning SDIO slot as taking part to performance improvements as well. Does anyone of you know about such speed diferences between SD cards?????

A lot of it is going to depend on device. The 3800's were horrible at loading programs from the SD card. The bigger cards usually come with a restructured table to access files too.

Default Somewhat related question

I installed a Sandisk 128MB SD card in my iPaq 3950 with the EUU3 udate.
I've noticed that voice notes saved to the SD card disappear once I turn off the iPaq. I don't have issues with written notes or other applications/data saved to the card.

Has anyone experienced this?
