Default V35 - Activesync – File Explorer Problems

I’m a new PDA user and need help with my File Explorer (among other things).
I have a Viewsonic V35 and a pc with Win 98.
I have upgraded from Activesync 3.5 to 3.6 to 3.7.
The usb conection and the sync button work fine, but if I try the explore button , I receive the next messages :
In activesync 3.5 and 3.6 :
“Failed to start remote services – Critical comunications services have failed to start. to correct this error, exit all applications and restart windows. if the problem persists, please reinstall microsft activesync by running setup from the installation disk (s).”
In activesync 3.7
“Failed to start remote services – Critical comunications services have failed to start. try resetting the mobil device, and then conect again.”
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, made soft resettings.
What else can I do to use the file explorer ? And why does the error message say of a communication failure and the sync works just fine ?
Did anyone have the same problem and how did you resolve it ?
Thanks

I do suggest posting answers to this exact same thread. It'll help keep the discussion coherent and easy to follow.
