Is there anything which will allow me to back up my old iPaq and transfer everything to my new one or do I have to reinstall all the applications from scratch?

I have a 3970 with PPC 2002 and am moving on to a 5550 with PPC 2003

As far as you contacts and such, you could synchronize all of the appointments, tasks, etc. in Microsoft Outlook, then synchronize them back onto the new device, having the computer overide the new handheld.

Aside from your PIM information (as RX115User points out), all of your applications will need to be reinstalled as the registry info from your old device can not be transferred to your new device.

I have over 30 third party apps loaded on my current device and it's really not that bad. Just make sure you do frequent backups to avoid having to reinstall again.
