Default Problem synching 4700 with laptop

Until recently I was able to synchronize my Hx4700 easily using any one of three methods (USB, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth) without Outlook running either on or off-line. Now, for some reason, Outlook must be running in order for synchronization to occur. I can still sync in any of the above methods, however, Outlook must be up. It's not that big a problem, just a bit of a nuisance to start Outlook each time I sync. Any ideas what I might have done to cause this?

This sounds to me like an issue with ActiveSync. Have you tried reinstalling it?

No, I have not tried that yet. Actually, I thought it might be a problem with Outlook. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
