Ok, Let's check the advanced settings on the modem.
go Start (menu) | Settings | Connections (tab) | Connections (icon) | Manage existing connections | Edit... | Next | Next | Advanced | TCP/IP (tab) | And "use server-assigned IP address should be checked. | Servers (tab) | and Use server-assigned addresses should be checked. (if there are values here you might want to write them down)| OK | Finish | OK | OK | X | and soft reset if you made any changes.

Try connecting. It sounds like you actually connected using the IP address before, try this address 216.68.1.91 or this one 209.217.33.130 the last one should get you a future home of page

David and Steve,

First time on in a couple of days. Wife was home from the office over the weekend and I was strictly confined to quarters. (Read duct taped to the bed) I will try your suggestions today, David and let you know.

Thanks, again.

Kenn

And the beat goes on....

David,

I followed your suggestions. What is interesting is that when I follow the path: Start |Connections (tab)| Connections (icon)| Manage Existing Connections...... I have NO choice of Manage Existing Connections. I have three icons on the left side of the screen. Number One at the top is a PDA connected to a globe icon. Number Two is a PDA connected to a Server icon. Number Three at the bottom is two linked computer icons. I have two tabs at the bottom, CONNECTIONS (which is the current page) and then Dialing Locations. But a Tab or Icon anywhere (and I've checked other various screens) stating Manage Existing Connections does not exist. That's number one.

Secondly, dailing using my original configurations with everything that you gave me over the weekend does connect to the net. When I inputed your first address, nothing came of it. However, when I inputed the second one, I got: FUTURE HOME OF http://209.217.33.130, it did go to the opening home page. However, I could not connect beyond that. None of the links on that home page (hobbies, travel, etc.) would work.

Okay, mate. Here's your challenge for the day. Where is my "Manage Existing Connections"? What does it mean that I am barely connecting and then explorer is going no further? The modem connection remains solid and does not disconnect until I instruct it to.

Okay, enough from me. I gotta get down before the wife comes home with a new roll of tape. As usual, thanks for your help.

Blessings,

Kenn

Ok, some answers for you. First looks like I messed up. Somehow I got it into my head you where using Windows Mobile 2003. But you have an iPAQ 3800 so you are using PocketPC 2002. There are some difference between the two.

You would need to go Start (menu) | Settings | Connections (tab) | Connections (icon) | The bottom Modify...| And tap either "My Connection" or the name of your modem ISP provider. It should be right under New... with the telephone number next to it.
Then tap Advanced... (box)
Tap Name Servers (tab)
And we want this set to Use server-assigned address

Tap TCP/IP (tab)
And we want this set to Use server-assigned address

What appearers to be the problem is for some reason you are not getting the correct DNS servers from your ISP. I am hopping that the Name server page is not setup correctly. If it is setup correctly, then you may need to contact your ISP. They may have a special DNS address you need to use.

You could also try installing vxUtil on your iPAQ, from www.cam.com it may help. I believe what it will show is that you can ping by IP address but not by name.

YES ! YES ! YES ! Okay David, I'm online with my Ipaq. I called my ISP, placed the DNS in the primary and secondary addresses, et voila! Je suis la! I am there.

Friend, we have never met, but thank you so very, very much for all your help. I need to send you some roses or some chocolate, at least a new hefty SD card ! I appreciate so much your help. It has meant a lot to me. Okay, the warden has heard me typing so off I go to the bed, but at least, with web availability.

Have a great day, David!

Best wishes,

Kenn
