there are a couple things you can do.
1. you can delete the mail services you have & recreate them.
2. you can do #1 & also delete the partnership(s) you have defined for your 3800, & recreate them.
3. you can hard reset the device & start from scratch.
I would go from top to bottom & see which one resolved the issue. I have had similar issues with my 5455, & have hard reset it to resolve the problem.
