From what I understand, these two models are identical (except for their model number). Is this correct?

Also, I can't seem to locate a document that states whether or not either of these have IR. Can someone confirm that they have an IR port, and what type?

Yes, they are the same. They do have IR, but from what I understand it is *not* consumer IR.
