It might be something a little more serious than static. Perhaps a faulty wire connection or something? I'm no electrician, but if you aren't entirely sure it is 'just static' (if unusually severe you should get checked out anyway) you should get it checked out before an important component in your precious ipaq (lest the CPU or onboard RAM) gets fried and you will almost certainly have to get it replaced.

Static is a huge problem. I fried a computer like that. The solution is a humidifier. The added moisture rids the room of static.

Are the voices saying anything to you when you feel the shock? 8O

I'd be amazed if you could even feel 5 volts DC. There must be a short circuit somewhere outside the PPC itself.

It's not so strange... I'm the guy who makes copiers run out of paper just by walking up to them.
