I had to buy the Toshiba e830 from Japan last week since it is not for sale in Europe and North America anymore. The ROM is now in japanese which makes it really difficult to work with.

I have called the support in several countries in Europe, I have called Canada and I am now trying with Japan.

Is there any help to get? I have a deadline on a benchmark comming up very soon.

What you are asking for cannot be done legally. Hard as it may seem - if you bought a Pocket PC in Japan then you bought a Japanese OS and are stuck with it. It is possible you could find an illegal copy of the ROM somewhere - but installing it would invalidate your warranty and possibly render your e830 useless if the procedure went wrong.

Oh, you are quite right about the warranty, but that is not to much of an issue. The challenge is to make a benchmark specifically on the e830 and not a Loox 720 or any other device.

Even the European support site, which has a good selection of downloads for the PDAs, does not provide a link to a ROM image of any sort for the e830. Unless someone at Toshiba can send you a ROM image and reflash utility, I'm not sure what luck you might have. The ROM image for the e800 is posted, but there are too many hardware differences for that to provide you with a successful reflash.

Does anyone know if Toshiba e830 and Toshiba Genio e830 is one and the same model. The Genio is the one being sold in Japan but I think it is one and the same.
