You want ActiveSync Toggle -- tiny, free program made by Micrologics that stops ActiveSync starting itself unless you let it. Excellent.

If you're refering to Activesync on your PDA, then you need to disable mobile schedule. Go to the Activesync applet on your PDA (Start Menu->Programs), select Tools->options, then unclick the Mobile Schedule check box for all the computers you sync with (you can select this from the dropdown menu). next go to the Mobile Schedule tab, and make sure both drop down boxes are showing "Manual".

If you're refering to Activesync on your PDA, then you need to disable mobile schedule.

This doesn't completely work, as ActiveSync stays resident in memory on the PC & will "reawaken" the PDA at intervals for various unfathomable reasons, even with everything set to manual via PDA options.

After trying all sorts of things to get around this, I stumbled on Micrologic's ActiveSync Toggle only recently, as mentioned above -- and it's an absolute godsend.

It also has a command line option -- set it to a system hotkey & Bob's yer aunt:

[c:/path/to/] activesynctoggle /enable
[c:/path/to/] activesynctoggle /disable

Now sync'ing happens when I want, and plurry Outlook (which runs with ActiveSync -- even if you don't use that partic. virus magnet for email) isn't running needlessly all the time.

miinx, I'm aware of all that. The question is, is andysoon refering to activesync on the PC or activesync on the PDA (uncradled) being the problem? If the former, then yes, activesync toggle is the way to go. If the latter, than it's activesync on the PDA that has to be resolved.
