I have a Symbol CF 802.11b card in my Ipaq 3955 which connects to a Linksys WAP11 Access Point. I can surf the internet and get email, but I'm having trouble doing an active sync wirelessly. In the connections tab, I have the my network card connects to the internet selected. Should it be work? What type of settings in the work connection do I need if it has to be set to connect to work?

On desktop in Activesync, make sure you check: file, connection settings, Allow network (ethernet) and RAS connection with this computer...

Make sure your network is setup so that the NetBIOS name of the computer can be pinged and connected... kinda tricky.

My connection manager settings are set to "Internet Settings, Internet Settings, and then Work". These are the only settings that allow me to both ActiveSync wirelessly and surf the Internet. Otherwise, I always had to flip the last of the three settings between Internet (if I wanted to surf) and Work (if I wanted to ActiveSync).

BTW, I have no special settings configured for either Work or Internet.

One more thing that I had to do on XP was to disable the firewall settings in Network Connections.

Yeah I never enabled mine but I do use Zone Alrm Pro.

You should have My network card connect to Work.
My iPaq 3850 and my Toshiba portable computer both connect to a Netgear router in the Infrastructure mode and all works fine : I can connect to the internet from the iPaq or the Toshiba ans synchronise wirelessly.
Sorry for my poor English, but although pretty well reading that language, I'm not used to write it.

I found that's not always true.

I found on my 5455 - in order to active sync, the last two connection setting must always be the same. If "my network cards connects to..." is set to "The Internet" than I have to set the "Work connects to..." to "The Internet" as well. If "my network card connects to..." is set to "Work" than "Work connects to..." must also be set to "Work".

For the Internet and Activesync to both work everything needs to be set to "Internet".

I suspect other people's milage may vary depending on how your specific network drivers are set up.
