Default Accessing media library over WLAN

I sure hope somebody can offer a clue or two on this. its driving me crazy

All my music is on my desktop's media player 11, all as standard mp3s. ive mounted a network folder on my ipaq using NetUse. the mounted folder does not show up in media player however (just the normal My Device and SD Card) ..... but when i get the media player to update the library, it clearly finds the 3500ish songs i have, but does not add them to the library..... is there something im doing wrong?

Many thanks for any suggestions!
