Default Smartphone 2003 update

Hi,
I'm a student of the Computer Sceince Department of "La Sapienza University".
I want update my red sc 1100 smartphone 2002, to 2003. I found via web some instruction to do it, but in all of they, I read that before I update to 2003, I update to build (V 2.1.1055.0). What's is this and how I perfom it?

You can get the update from everlink's FTP site. I believe the uname/password is posted in this forum, if not, PM me and I'll get it for you (at work, so don't have it handy).
