I have been trying for a long time to down ring tones from Cingular to install on the 2125. It always installs in the Window Media Player with no options to install as a ring tone. Cingular hasn't been much help. They connected me to a HTC rep who said download the new ROM update and that would correct it. I did that and it still downloads to the Media Player. Not something I have to have but it would be nice to get it to work. Would appreciate anyone's help. :cry:

Sorry, I'm not following - how are you downloading them? and from where?

And you're saying that once they are downloaded it just plays in Media Player and doesn't save a local copy?

I am downloading from Cingulars Media Net. It sends me a text message. I download, it installs in Windows Media Player with no opptions to install as a ring tone. Doesn't seem like it should be this difficult. There has to be a work around this problem. I really don't have to have custom ring tones but this has become a challange to figure out. Any thing you can do to help would be appreciated. :?:

It installs on your phone and then launches WMP to play it. The file should be on your phone somewhere. In WMP with the ringtone playing (or open), click Menu and then properties. Scroll down in this list and see what it says for location. Then launch File Explorer and browse to that location and move the file to \Application Data\Sounds and you should be good to go.

I did exactually like you said. I drug the tone from the music folder to Applications/sounds. I works!! You can not imagine how much time I have spent on this spread over about three days. It's one of those things you don't have to have but a special tone from my daughter comes in handy. I really appreciate your time on this. I know you have many people asking you things.

So, what folder did you find it in? If I had to guess I would think it's in the \Temp or \My Documents folder on download. Silly that it doesn't prompt you on where you want to save the file to. :?
