BTW, why don't manufacturers make quadband HPSDA devices? I would think that by adding a frequency, they can sell so many more? Power issue? Complexity?
Well to date there has been no demand, since the Tmo USA 3G network isn't available as of yet. that might be one reason.
YES!! I've been wanting something just like this. I "wish" it had more memory and would love it if they'd squeeze in GPS too.
Have you ever owned/used a device with builtin GPS reciever? I just sold my hw6945, any device with GPS reciever and data connection (which you typically will be using constantly) will empty your battery in no time, even though extra hassle a standalone GPS reciever might just be better due to to battery drain, if you want something for walking around try Google Maps for mobiles.
The specs say that the display is 320x240, but it looks higher than that from the picture. Does anyone else think so?
Even though I feel spoiled (with a VGA PDA) in this world of QVGA after QVGA device being released and hardly any new VGA devices coming out, I have to say 320x240 on these relatively small screens is ok actually, but I don't think anyone has gone over this resolution on screens like this as of yet, does Windows Mobile even support any higher in this format?
I wish they could squeeze in a keyboard like this on a PDA with 640x480 resolution

I have an HP RX5915 as a standalone GPS, but it would be great if I didn't have to carry that and my i730. My use is of the GPS is almost exclusively in a car. It's always plugged into the car power outlet, so battery drain isn't really an issue for me.

Ok as long as you are aware of the power usage
If you only need it in the car why not just have a bluetooth GPS device that is plugged into power installed in your car(s) then? I mean you can use ANY Windows Mobile device (even smarphones) with a variety of maping programs, inlcuding free Google maps with a GPS reciever (internal or external). This would give you the both of two worlds, GPS in the car in your ONLY device, and no need to worry about pluging the phone in when in the car. Though 320x240 is not a very big display for GPS usage...

I tried that for a while, and didn't like having to deal with the time it took to pair the devices and then wait for the device to lock on to the signal, plus, that required 2 power sources -- I have a GPS built into my car at home, so the portable GPS setup is just for when I travel. Much easier to have a dedicated unit that I can just put on the dash and go when I'm at the airport. If it could double as my phone and still be an acceptable PDA, as I'm hoping this device would be, I could eliminate at least one device from my overflowing laptop bag! 8)

I agree with you. After having a couple of VGA PPC's I never thought I could go back to a QVGA device. But, I am quite happy with 320x240 on my Moto Q. I would like to have PPC phone device, but I don't like the look of the treo with 240x240.
My understanding is that, with WM6, many other resolutions are now supported including 320x320 and 480x480. I think I read somewhere that 800x600 is even supported.
I like a bigger screen, but after having a smartphone like the Q, I don't know if I could get used to a PPC phone with a horizontal qwerty slider. It makes one handed use almost impossible. When Palm comes out with a new treo that has either 320x320 or 480x480 then I will buy one.

I agree fully, having been using a Dell x51v then a HP HW6945 (with the GPS builtin as discusssed above) with 240x240 like the Palm devices, then I tried a Tmo DASH and that's why I was looking with interest on this device as it would enable the 'full' WM capabilities versus the smartphone edition. But I just noticed there is no EDGE that kills this phone as an option for me!
"The 503G packs some mostly impressive innards from the 520MHz processor and 256MB ROM to the quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi... and, ahem, Bluetooth 1.2. All that with Windows Mobile 6 Professional to go."

That was the case at the time of publication, but unfortunately, it looks like Expansys has since modified their specs page to exclude EDGE. I've modified the OP.
