I prefer the HP Foldable Keyboard for IPaqs. It's approximately the same size as the Stowaway XT when folded, and has the all important extra number row. True, the keys are slightly smaller than the Stowaway, but I think this is a reasonable trade off. Plus, if you look on Ebay, the HP Foldable Keyboard can be had for approximately $35-$40. I got lucky and managed to grab one for $25.

I should've been clearer; I meant when folded. It only shows one side and the thickness, but I'd like to see the width AND length of it too!

Folded, the unit is the same length and thickness as an iPAQ4350 (which I'm testing now for my next review!) It looks about 2cm wider than the iPAQ.

Figure 2 in my review shows a folded version compared to an iPAQ 5500 series (I think it is). Here's the measurements (folded), from the Specifications section of the review:

"... It weighs 160 gms (5.6 oz) and is 139mm x 99mm x 13mm (5.5 in x 3.9 in x 0.5 in) when closed..."

I have used both Stowaway keyboards and I think the XT is tops. It does take a bit to get used to the missing number row.

I think that the software is the real jewel. I am very big on using keyboard shortcuts and this software virtually eliminates the use of the stylus.

BTW- I found my XT on eBay for $41.00.

Holy cats! I've had one of these for months, and I've never noticed or read about the power jack before! YAY! Thanks!

Actually, I started with the HP keyboard. Even with my smallish hands, the keys are too small.

I like the form factor of this keyboard, currently i have the Targus Universal Wireless Keyboard, which allows me to rotate my pda in a landscape mode. (Although I have not been able to use it because The drivers will not work with my Jornada 568) But it will work with my Ipaq once I get a new battery.

My question is this, has anyone heard if there is a portable keyboard that uses bluethooth? I would swoop that up in a second!

Merry Christmas and God Bless

I'm keeping a weather out for this, too. Flexis (a company in Korea) said they had one a few months ago, and published it on their website, but I haven't seen hide-nor-hair of it in North America. I know others are working on them, and Think Outside has been dropping some rather large hints that they are about to announce something in this arena very soon.

I am delighted to say that the keyboard I bought of ebay for £40 finally arrived (I blame the Christmas post  )

It's fantastic!! And even smaller then I thought it would be having seen the pictures etc.

It is great to type on with the only problem being I keep hitting up when I go for the shift key resulting in me typing half a line in the middle of the line above!

But with time I'm sure I'll get the hang of it!

Witht the combination of this and textmaker I genuinely feel I can do some serious work on this with my Ipaq 5550!

For those of you in the UK try ebay, I was expecting to have to pay £70+ in this country for one anyway so I am delighted to have picked one up for just £40 including postage from the states!
