Not for the mere hobbyist. Bingo!

One gets what one pays for I guess, especially considering Sockets SDIO In-Hand Scan card retails for $219.95 at Mobile Planet without the OrganizeIT software that comes w/ this offering.

Cuecat? Is Digital Convergence still around? Isin't that the scanning device that was lambasted back in 2000 by privacy groups? When the user activated the cat ( the scanner was locked until the user gave either Radio Shack or Digital Convergence their name, address and email address ) its software followed all your internet tracks, and unlike a cookie, there was no way to delete or disable it?

That was long ago, so maybe I'm wrong.

I did do a quick read of the Digital Covergence 10/2000 SEC S/1 filing, and this is a warning that comes in the filing...

OUR RIGHT TO KEEP INFORMATION COLLECTED IN OUR DATABASES MAY BE CHALLENGED IN THE FUTURE.

We intend to use our :C.R.Q. and :Cue:C.A.T. technology to develop and maintain a substantial database of consumer demographic information that our customers can use with our permission to conduct advertising campaigns. In particular, we intend to require each user of our technology to provide basic individual information in order to register and activate our :C.R.Q. software application. Under our privacy policy, individual user information will not be made available to outside parties and will be used internally by us only if a user gives express permission for such use. Some summary demographic data, however, may be made available to outside parties. Privacy concerns may cause users to resist providing the personal data necessary to support this profiling capability. More importantly, even the perception of security and privacy concerns, whether or not valid, may inhibit Internet user acceptance of our technology and products. Furthermore, users may bring lawsuits against us seeking to prohibit us from collecting this data. Even if without merit, lawsuits could impair Internet user acceptance of our technology and products. In addition, legal requirements may heighten these concerns if businesses must notify Internet users that the data captured after visiting certain websites may be used by marketing entities to direct product promotion and advertising to that user. We are not aware of any such laws currently in effect in the United States. Other countries and political entities, such as the European Economic Community, have adopted these types of laws. We cannot predict how the international roll-out of our technology will be affected by these types of laws.

And at that price you may as well get several Cuecats! If something goes wrong, where you going for tech support??

ZDNet's David Coursey tells a Cuecat story way back when...

BTW, can that ' cat ' squeeze into a SDIO slot of PPC and capable Smartphone devices? The OrganizeIT Suite, afterall, is being marketed to these SPECIFIC users.

I truly feel like an idiot having to post there here on PPCT, and I honestly doen't mean to take this thread OT, but I am having EXTREME difficulty purchasing DVD Profiler.....I'm hoping an existing registered owner of DVD Profiler can either help me, or get word to their support that I'm having trouble. Here is an email I just sent to an email address I'm not even sure exists (support@intervocative.com) or if I'll get a response to:

"I downloaded DVD Profiler and liked it, so I decided to buy it. To buy it, I have to sign up, which is fine, but the first part of the sign-up process is that Intervocative sends me an email. I NEVER get that email. I've sent it to two different email accounts, one of which the ONLY spam filtering is Outlook 2003 (which moves any suspect mail to its Junk Email folder, and DOESN"T delete it). Frustrating, but fine. So I go to your website to contact you....there is NO contact information. Frustrating, but fine. I go to your website to open a support trouble ticket.......I can't do that without registering which sends an email I'm not receiving!! Frustrating, but fine. I go to your website to post in your user forum for help. I can't do that without registering which sends an email I'm not receiving!! FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

I am a network administrator, so you can trust me when I say I have little to no spam filtering on either of the accounts. It truly seems like your servers are having an issue and not sending the registration emails out.

At this time, this email is my last hope. I'm not sure its a valid email address for you, but I sure hope it is, as I'm not sure what other options I have next. All I'm trying to do is give you my money.....please take it!"

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated ops: :duh: :grumble:  :confused totally: uppydogeyes:
