Default Development for the Pharos 600

Hi all,

I'm trying to do some development for the Pharos 600 that involves accessing the GPS receiver. So far though, the only program that I can get to get interact with the receiver in any way is the built in one, Ostia. As a way to make sure it's configured properly before trying to make any programs on my own, I've been trying to get both Live Search and a sample GPS program that comes with the Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK to access the GPS receiver to no avail.

From reading this thread and others, it seems like my problem is I don't know What Program and Hardware port the GPS settings need to be set to and I don't know what baud rate I should select. Does anyone know what the settings for these should be on the Pharos 600? Also, does anyone know of any other reason why Live Search (or any arbitrary GPS program) might not be able to access the information off the receiver? Thanks a lot.

Evan...

As I said uptopic, I also had problems getting the version of Live Search that was installed on my review unit to work. Turns out that it didn't have the final software installation that a consumer would get. The Pharos rep provided an updated version of Live Search that included an intermediate driver that allowed Live Search (and presumably other GPS-aware software) to utilize the 600's built-in GPS receiver. I suggest that you contact Pharos to get this updated software, because I think you'll need it to be successful at what you're trying to do.

Doug
