"Not too much is known yet but T-Mobile has unveiled today that the German mobile operator will show its latest Windows Mobile Professional smartphone during this week's CeBIT. T-Mobile Germany calls it the "MDA compact IV" and according to Deutsche Telekom's press release, it will feature an exclusive T-Mobile design, HSDPA, a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, 4 GB internal memory and a VGA (640x480) touchscreen."



Cool features, and the rest ain't bad either - quad-band GSM, tri-band Category 8 HSDPA (7.2Mbps!!), BT2.0 and 802.11g. On the other hand, there's a lot of confusion over whether this is a "Pro" device or Standard (because of the button layout), and I wouldn't lay odds against the feature set being changed either. As Menneisyys reported earlier, the device was only briefly shown at the MWC, and while on display at CeBIT, nobody's been allowed to handle it. We do have some nice CeBIT pics for you however. The Compact IV will supposedly be available in May 2008 for €111 ($169), with contract.

I wonder why there is always such secrecy when actually announcing a new device? Surely it makes sense to announce the specs so potential buyers can consider the device - or are they planning to keep the specs secret forever and have buyers sign an NDA? I mean, eventually it WILL be released, is there really any advantage gained from all the secrecy?

It looks much like HTC P3470, and at €111 ($169), looks like T-Mo has way too much to offer in this device comparing with prices on its current devices, even with 2 years plan. Than again, maybe in Europe it is cheaper than here in U.S.
