In most cases, users rely on storage cards to handle all the maps. There are 2GB microSD cards now. I'm guessing 4GB is in the works.

Now your baiting me Darius.

"No device is ever perfect"

This one nearly made it into my must have list.
Then they drop the ball with no 3G. Oh well the wait continues.

Didn't we just read a review of the Artemis (yesterday?) that said something about free RAM and ROM after loading maps was insufficient?

Never mind

Default E-TEN X500

From Aus too

Telstra's 3G may be useful if you want to watch the footie on your phone

If I wanted to watch the footie (which I most decidely do not), I'd use my big TV. Telstra's mooted prices are typically outrageous, so I'll let the footies pay 'em

GSM/GPRS in extremis works fine, especially if you can piggyback a wi-fi network, without Telstra living in your wallet

Look at the geography of the country, not just the restricted areas of the cities. Low earth orbit satellite is the obvious choice for the largest, flattest continent on the planet.

Since only Vodafone offers limited low earth orbit satellite, I'll stay with GSM/GPRS and wi-fi. Maybe Telstra will go bust (I wish)

Even with 3G capability it would still be less than "perfect".

No slide out keyboard either

I'm with the folks who think MiniSD sucks too, but that GPS stuff has to fit somewhere

Actually, it's using microSD, which gives you an even bigger reason to rant.

According to my calendar, 2007 is less than 3 months away. I would not want a device that might be obsoleted in a few months by something with faster data speeds. Might as well wait for a similar PDA with 3G.
