I too am disappointed about the lack of a Samsung i780 upgrade, specially when it was announced to be getting an upgrade not too long ago!!

Default i-mate 6150

I upgraded my i-mate 6150 the other week, right when the update came out. It adds a task manger, the option to turn off 3G, and I think some performance enhancements.

I can't comment a lot on the performance enhancements. After I updated, I restored using the "ROM Update" mode of SPB Backup. I'm not posting this as a negagive against SPB Backup! it is an amazing product if you ask me and I'm blown away by it's features. Anyway, I'm sure this would have worked fine in some situations but it probably just depends what's fixed and replaced with the ROM update as to whether the restore wipes it out or not. Anyway, my device is working fine since then and all my installed apps work so I didn't need to re-install. It did seem to kill a few features thought that the upgrade should have given me. For instance, the option to disable 3G is there, which it wasn't, but it's grayed out.

Anyway, when I have time I plan to re-install the 6.1 update and then re-install all my applications. Then I'll restore just my email and contacts with SPB Backup - which I do strongly reccomend to anyone looking for backup software.

I noticed at least 4 different releases of 6.1 for the HTC Touch. Is Rogers likely to release one?

Difficult to determine. Unfortunately, Rogers has yet to release a single ROM upgrade or patch for the Touch, so the chances of a 6.1 upgrade are quite slim.

Default I got a question...

I upgraded my Pantech Duo to an unofficial ROM a number of months back.

Theoretically, I should be able to install the offical ROM over the unofficial one, right? I mean, it's basically just re-flashing the ROM with a new OS, right?

I'm not even sure why I want to, but 'official' seems better than 'unofficial' in my book. Just afraid of hosing the phone if I'm wrong...

Correct - unless the installer detects an unofficial ROM and prevents installation, in which case, you may be able to flash using the official image copied to a microSD card.

Are you referring to the MDA Vario III? To my understanding, T-Mobile has not released an official upgrade for it, but you may be able to download and install the upgrade for the TyTN II (do so at your own risk).
