i've been reading about how to compress videos for watching is there a step by step for the new divix some things are different. i've read pocket matrix and it was cool. but not for the new verson of divix. anybody know?

You can still use the same guide from pocketmatrix. It's only the very last step that is different. When you download and install ver. 5.xx you will find that this is now one of your compression choices in VDub.

Instead of the 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 choices in the older version, you now have n of n so you can make muliple passes.

I remade a movie in ver 5.xx that I had previously produced in ver. 4.xx. The file size actually came out a bit bigger (not sure if I used the same settings, I have a feeling I might have used a higher bitrate for the new one). The main difference I noticed is that the audio sync was much better with the ver. 5.xx movie.

If the new version was responsible for the improvement or whether I was just lucky, it's too soon to say. Need to rip a few more to see.

If you're concerned about it, you can still use the old version and follow the guide exactly. Might be a good idea for your first try.
