Bought mine from ipaqchoice.com and paid with credit card I think - great piece of software...

Am having some trouble with it crashing my ipaq 4150 though - can I get support here or should I go to the Mastersoft website?

Suggest you log a call with Mastersoft.

Can someone please tell me what the Mastersoft version offers that is better than SuDoKu Rules (from Spiral Mile)? I've been playing the latter lately and I want to know why people feel like the Mastersoft version is better?

http://www.spiralmile.com

For me, this is why I chose SuDoKu Rules:
1) Interface is more attractive
2) Solver had better visual hinting and more hinting options
3) More comprehensive puzzle generator
4) Smaller executable (1MB memory)
5) UI allows multiple "pencil-marked" numbers to be enterred into cells quickly without popping up "keypad picker" in each one
6) Can generate 12mil puzzles
7) Can be purchased on Handango, Pocketgear, etc... (which means you can usually knock another 15-20% off with a coupon code)
8 ) DOES NOT REQUIRE THE .NET CF, which saves almost 3MB of main storage (if you don't have it in ROM)
9) Lots of updates that add features and lots more coming: http://www.spiralmile.com/releasehistory.htm

I'd still like to know what Mastersoft has to offer though...

Is it April 1st ? Better UI ? I never laughed so much
Mastersoft SuDoku is the best selling pocket pc program (full stop). It has been nominated by the PocketPCMag judges (SuDoku Rules isn't but then it's psychodelic color scheme probably frightened them) ....
I've been playing with the beta of their next update ... it's out of this world. Has something like 20M puzzles but who cares, I'll never do them all. Master levels are FAR HARDER than SuDoku Rules too ...
Agreed though if you have a feeble device get SuDoku Rules as it will run on anything (somebody said it works on a 70s calculator though I can't confirm it)
PS I Tried SuDoku Rules ... doesn't use much memory ... but then it doesn't use any now ... 'cos I binned it
Anyways Mastersoft SuDoku is far cheaper (and better) ! I got mine for less than $4 from iPaqChoice.....
SuDoku Rules sure is a stinker and now we've got some screenies to prove it

I think you are being pretty one-sided. :devilboy:

I have tried a number of Sudoku programs (though neither of those mentioned here) and the Look & Feel of SuDoKu Rules is IMHO one of the better ones. I prefer myself that the board take up as much available screen real estate as possible as does the Mastersoft and Resco versions (although the contrast of the Resco version definitely leaves something to be desired).

In any case, the SuDoku Rules display is clear and readable and apparently has a lot of features. There are a lot of these programs available because the programming is relatively easy when compared to other board games (even though they do provide solvers).

Maybe someone will volunteer to do an objective (as far as possible) comparison review of ALL the different available PocketPC Sudoku programs. Any volunteers :?:

Cheers rosbif,

I've now bought it from iPaq Choice paying by credit card and it only cost me £3.32 (1 Point) instead of £8.34 direct from Mastersoft.

Cheers

David

Can't beat that price for what is a great bit of software! Funnily enough after having bought that (and journal bar for 2 points too) I've just got a survey from MORI about IPAQ choice that has given me 2 points free! Dammit!!!

Looks like Mastersoft (and people pretending not to work for them) are run by a bunch of schoolkids. I haven't read such a childish post for a long time.

I agree - and also think he must work for Mastersoft.
Maybe I will have to do my own personal comparison...
