Default Spb Insight Delivers News to Smartphones

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/about/pressreleases/2007/nov13.html?en

"Spb Software House, the world's leading Windows Mobile software developer, releases the Smartphone version of Spb Insight, an intelligent news reader that makes full-text and image articles available for offline reading. The software not only decreases data usage, but also saves time by turning those spare moments into quality news reading experiences. Spb Insight is distinguished from mere RSS readers by its capability to deliver full article texts, optimized for viewing on mobile devices."

I've always liked Spb software. It is nice to watch them moving into the Smartphone (sorry, WM Standard) productivity arena. There are some nice screen shots here of this new offering. I'm not a big user of news readers myself so post your thoughts if you try it. You can buy or try here.

"I've always liked Spb software."

Really? So you're supporting developers who sell ripped off software like it was their own production?

Insight looks sweet, but I won't use it for that one reason.

All news readers look about the same to me. Looking like something else means it was stolen? If that is the case then everything is stolen.

Hey guys, I thought I would chime in for just a moment. While it is true that Ilium's Newsbreak was one of the earlier and better news aggregators (and still is!), Spb came along and definitely added something to the mix.

We wrote about the differences and similarities between the two on Gear Diary in November 2006 (Insight was new to the market, then):

http://www.geardiary.com/2006/11/05/...house-insight/

Since that article, Ilium and Spb have both added new features and stepped up their games. I suspect that this will go back and forth for some time to come.

Now, as a consumer...how is this a bad thing? How does this make Spb a copycat? Get real. We are the winners here. It simply comes down to which one you like better, which one meets your needs, and who you want to give your money to.

Developing a similar software is one thing. Developing a similiar software which looks the same and acts the same is another. Every compared Spb Diary with SBSH PocketBreeze? Just an example.

Did you read the article linked above and look at the images posted by Judie? Illium doesn't look like that anymore because they copied what Spb had done. The competition upped the ante. What part of this are you missing exactly?

Mobile RSS readers are good and all, but if they don't sync my feeds with the desktop counterpart, then they aren't much value to me.

I really can't believe that this is devolving into an argument.

Even if what the "defenders" of Spb's software say is true, once the facts are pointed out, why does anyone (except Spb) care if others are of the opinion that there are alleged similarities in the software interface?

Then again, maybe it's just me.
