Type opera:config in the adress bar and far down in the advanced section you can change vrowser identification I believe, just like gazillions of other options.

Try Settings:Display:Mobile view

That should give you what you're looking for.

Default ?!?!?!??

I can't believe all the negative comments!!! I have an iMate Ultimate 6150 and this browser is awesome! Great rendering, fast, most usable Pocket PC browser I've ever used by a long shot - and I've tried many.

Double tap to zoom on a column, double-tap to zoom back out. The menus are designed for fingers, it switches to full-screen and back automatically at the perfect times.

I don't know what you people are talking about. It's great here! Thank you Opera people!!!

For any us you who saw Safari on an iPhone and wanted that for your Windows Mobile device this is it!!!

This gives you a different view (no zoom needed), but does not ID your device as a mobile for sites with a mobile config. At least as far as I can tell.

Maybe because many of us have been using the leaked HTC versions, which BTW have been very stable. They may be a bit slower than the current beta, but they certainly haven't caused as many problems as been reported with the latest beta.

Worked fine for me... I tried it on both PPCT and msnbc.com and both came up in their mobile view.

post edited by Rocco for excessive flamming.

Thanks for editing, err, I mean censoring my post!

But.. isn't my question, whether Opera guys can actually program or if they are only an ignorant bunch, an absolutely valid question?

And my second statement about the HTC deal is also perfectly valid.
WE ALL know that many companies become lazy once they had their big deal involving a lot of money.
Exactly the same seems to be the case with Opera now.

That also was the case with HTC btw.

People talking about Google being evil? BAH! Look at companies like HTC and Opera and finally open your eyes!

If you are going to say now that rants like mine are not needed then I have to say something to you:

People like ME have to publish such rants, else companies like THEM will always continue to rip off people like YOU!

Think about it, and get active.

hmm. Doesn't work for me.
Putting it in "mobile view" does the exact same thing as the "fit to screen" option in opera 8. I think it would be great if setting the mobile view option set it to fit to screen and changed the browser string but that doesn't seem to be what it is doing for me. I canot get the mobile version of sights.

What do you mean you cant beleive all the complaints? If the device you purchased to keep your schedule no longer keeps your schedule (reminders silent) because of a flawed program, than everything else is irelevant. Its a show stopper for everyone who actually use their devices for productivity. They cant possibly expect anyone to continue beta testing it until they fix that alone...it renders a ppc to a simple paper and pencile planner. Sure it looks cool, has nice features etc. But I need those alarms when I have a hundred tasks and half as many appointments to keep.

The other issues such as resources are huge too, but not even on the same plane as destroying notifications.

Ive submitted my bug and uninstalled the program. I like the browser concept so I have set a REMINDER to check back with them in a week for a fixed beta so I can help them on the bug hunt. At least I can rely on that reminder to to prompt an action on my part

My bad... the way the browser changed the formatting in Mobile view, it looked to me like the actual mobile version. But I compared it to my Smartphone and realized that it was just displaying a reformatted standard page on the Pocket PC.

Sorry about that...
