My wife used to have a cell phone that would not let you forget about SMS messages. When a message came in at, say, 2 AM, the phone would manically beep every 90 seconds until someone got up to turn it off. Despite hundreds of attempts to silence it by altering various settings, it would not be content with 1 audible notification and then silence.
