Hope Don will be able to get a review (or even an evaluation) copy. I am not - as with 90% of the world - able to access the iPlay site at all (and the developer refuses to even sell (!!!) me a copy); therefore, I won't even include it in the Multimedia Bible.

More info on this subject (the developer of iPlay and his views of the outside world) is at:

and, take a look at his flames against the CoreCodec folks:

Yeah Menn, Cornel is a hard guy to deal with, he doesn't do review copies ever and purchasing the product can only be done after the demo is downloaded but I was really hoping someone with equalizer experience like Don's could verify some of his claims. Number one being that his equalizer works better than anyone elses. Cornel if your reading this I know you did not use that exact phrasing ever but the claim has been implied in some of your posts over the years". 30 Bucks is steep just to write a review but if the "claim" pans out than it is definitely worth knowing.

Personally I bought it and have had great sound reproduction with it but I'm not what you could call by any strech of the imagination an audio expert or audiophile.

Hmmmm... good idea... I'll see what I can do about iPlayer (I saw the posts above about the author not really supporting review copies) and I'll take a longer look through CorePlayer. I"ve heard a lot of good things about it, but when I took a quick look through it a week or so ago (on a new machine I was playing with), I have to admit that the UI was not all that intuitive to me. I'll take another look tho...

Great comparison. Thanks!
I'm assuming you mean Pocket Music in this one. By the way, that little box in the top corner is SUPPOSED to be one to close down the entire app. HOWEVER, if you tap just to the side of it, in the blank area in the top of the screen, you get the Menu -- so 1/2 a point, but it proves my point that the widgets on the winamp screens are just too darn small to be effective, especially on a QVGA screen.

Note that version 1.2 will be released in a week - that is, wait until it's released.

Hi guys... well, I got a pretty quick response from the 40thFloor folks re: iplay... here's what they say:

"iPlay? That's some old stuff there, first (beta) released in March of 2001.
Pile six plus years of baggage onto the same frame and that's what you get.
Today, and for the last year and a half, I use Phantasm. As a music player, Phantasm is much more up-to-date and so much easier to use"

I'll take a look at Phantasm and see what it's got. But at least we have an answer to the worries about iplay....

That's an understatement - I have some very bad memories trying to deal with him. Whenever I see "40th floor" I run away screaming. The guy is completely, totally, and utterly bizarre.
