Default Battery Notification...

I have seen in many screen shots that people have a batter on the task bar in the notification area. It appears to be that same battery icons that you see if you click on the time and it does not appear to be from any special program such as wisbar. Is there a way to enable this or is it some additional program?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but do you mean the half-battery icon showing up on the Start bar? If that is, that just shows up automatically with PPC2002 when your battery drops below a certain level.

Yes, I was wondering about the same thing. I saw some screens displaying that same symbol FULL, now I wonder, how did they get that???

For now I created an icon for Wisbar that almost looks like the PPC2002 one.

These are created by additional apps that superimpose the graphic from wisbar. Smallmenu http://www.tillanosoft.com/ce/smenu.html does it for example, but I'm sure there are others out there ...

Ciao,

Small menu turns the battery icon from horizontal to upright, and instead of a diagonal line it has three horizontal lines, so that can't be it. I know I know, I am being picky, but I would REALLY like to know what program displays the battery EXACTLY like the one used by the PPC2002 OS, even when the battery is fully charged.

One of the mysteries of life, I guess... :?:

I can't figure it out either, so I have almost complete an app of my own that does exactly that. It just displays the battery in the notificaition area. If you click it you can get additional battery information too. I should have it ready in the next day or two and I'll be sure to let you know.

Axims come with a program that does it but along with a brightness indicator and a task switcher, so there's 3 icons in the top bar together. If it's not that though, I don't know!

OK, enough speculation...

First, some of the theme managers that allows the user to take a screenshot applies the battery icon to just the screenshot, so for the most part this is what you are seeing. These managers also will put generic data on the today screen so that when posted to the web, the screenshot doesn't contain any personal info.

Second, Smallmenu now has the ability to add a battery icon to the notification area of the taskbar. Likewise, the newest version allows you to change the bitmap used for the icons. I have created 2 sets of icons for smenu, one is the exact copy of the PPC2k2 OS icons, and the other is a set that is like the Smartphone OS icons. You can use icons that are vertical or horizontal, it doesn't matter. You may have seen smenu's icon on a few of these screenshots.

check out this thread http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum...340#post156340 and you'll see a few of my screen shots using smenu.

Josh, I am very interested in checking out your product and comparing it to smenu. Where do you plan to post the final version?

note: are you aware of a memory leak in the notification API and what causes the mem leak? If not, I have some code that suppose to reproduce the mem leak. PM me if you would like it.
