Fresh out of beta is Adobe's Flash Lite 2.1 (best described as a lightweight version of Flash for mobile devices). A standalone player and development kit for Windows Mobile 5.0 are freely available, but in typical Adobe fashion, downloading the two requires logging in, which means it's time to wipe the dust off your idle Adobe accounts.

So, what's the difference between this Lite verson and the larger version of Flash for PPC we downloaded not so long ago? Updated version? Smaller version? New product entirely? Do you keep the older "big" version or replace it with this one? Hmmmm. Many questions to be answered

no youtube. I just tried it and i get an error saying i either don't have javascript enabled and that i'm using an old version of flash player which sucks a lot...btw i'm using samsung i320n

It's a new product entirely (though slightly related). You'll want to keep the existing Flash Player for playing back Flash content embedded in web pages, and install the new Flash Lite standalone player for playing back new Flash Lite content and applications.

Yes, both Pocket PCs and Smartphones running Windows Mobile 5.0. Any earlier operating systems aren't supported.

Note that the Flash Lite standalone player is indeed a standalone player.



You're greeted with an animated Flash Lite intro screen...



... and then taken to a file explorer for loading Flash Lite content.



There are a number of playback options, including looping and viewing content in full screen mode.

It has some problems with playing my >1.5mb files

Also, flash files with sound loops are played weirdly. On the brighter side, most of the files got played nicely by it
