Default O2 Asia-Pacific Readying Four New Handsets for 2H

http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20070614PD218.html

"O2 Asia is adjusting its ODM partners for the Asia Pacific and Middle East markets, with Asustek no longer making new handsets for O2 Asia while Gigabyte Communications will account for the highest proportion of the orders to be released from the company to Taiwan, according to industry sources... Lawrence Lee, president for Taiwan and Hong Kong at O2 Asia Pacific, said it will roll out four new models in the second half of 2007 and the models will be supplied by three makers. However, he declined to reveal the names of the partners."

Ah, new toys from O2. The company plans to release three 3.5G and one 2.5G Windows Mobile 6-based handsets within the next half year, with half of the lot sporting integrated GPS chipsets. Of course, details are sketchy, but that's to be expected.
