The service is expected to be available during the 2nd quarter of this year. So what are your thoughts? Is $1.99 a reasonable charge for a 24-hour time period? Would you pay that? Most importantly, do any of you actually find 'The Office' humorous?

i find trying to watch shows shot in HD on a 2" screen humorous.

I don't understand these timebomb services. I don't want to pay $2 for a show I can watch only within 24 hours. I want to be able to keep it and watch it again. In fact, you can buy the episode on iTunes for $2.

I find The Office pretty funny, even if it's painfully funny at times given how over the top it is. I just started watching it over the last few days, and I've been hooked. Then again, I'm easily entertained.

I'd not pay $2 for a time-bombed show. $2 for one episode that I can keep or download as many times as I want would be OK ... I mean I happily pay $20 for a season on DVD ...

[Edit] Actually, you know I would pay $2 if I was stuck in an airport, bored out of my skull and somehow I wasn't carrying something else that was able to amuse me that day ... I carry 12 seasons of the Simpsons on my PDA's 8Gb CF card - and a full season of SCRUBS ... and I have more stuff on my 2Gb phone .. plus music and a few hundred books between the two. Oh - and my iPod of course. I mean ... **if** somehow all that was not enough to keep me sane then $2 would be acceptable as a one-off fee, but not for watching stuff regularly. I'd rather pay a subsidy on my cable subscription. Ehem. If I had cable that is ;-)

As for The Office ... The original British version of The Office is much funnier, although most of the humour is in the agony :-) Somehow the American version doesn't capture the original intent ... I mean, why are those people so pretty for goodness sake??? ;-)

Why must these media giants charge for this when it's broadcast for free? This isn't pay-per-view guys! I understand they are getting killed by timeshifting and placeshifting devices, but who wants to pay for this when there are so many other options out there?

i'd much rather buy the show when its available on DVD (so I guess I'd be waiting for a complete season) and then use one of the many software packages out there designed to convert it to portable format (for my WM device).

$2 for a timebomb episode. :bangin:

I hated The Office at first but it grew on me. Once you get used to how over the top it is, you can really see the humor

I found the British version far less palatable, but it also grew on me, like warts :mrgreen:

lets see, $2 for something any human with basic cable can get for free. if they would at least give users a 12 hour advanced viewing before it airs, then maybe it would be worth it...but thats whats bittorrents for, no? which moron came up with this lame idea, 24 hour viewing window for something already aired for $2.

I don't think I'd trust someone who didn't think the Office was funny.

I kept hearing how much better the British version is so I borrowed a friend's DVD. (not sure which season it was) Maybe it had been hyped too much, but I really didn't find it funny at all. Props to the Brits for innovating with TV shows (unlike the US) but this is one case where I actually like the US version much more.
