I want a 6500, BUT I can't wait until November because:

o The processor is already too slow NOW. By Xmas 2005/Jan 2006 - HA!
o The screen is too low rez. Why not take the lead and make a new standard? Look at the screen on the Dell PPC, or the new PSP. Crap is not where it's at.
o The operating system will be 3 years old by the new release date of November; only a fool would buy it UNLESS they sell a owner firmware update as Compaq did back in the day (yes, I am a long time iPaq user!)

Trust Blackberry to not sit idle and hand away marketshare while HP frets in the fault design labs. If you launch in November, you need competitive intel to tell you where Blackberry and the Treo will be by then, and then DO BETTER.

I agree with much of what you are saying here, but I'm pretty convinced there will still be a market. I'm going to wait for it anyway.

CPU: It's a slow CPU. However I don't watch movies on my h4100 now, nor would I on a hwh6500. Other than loading a large webpage with many pictures, I really can't think of any task that I have to wait for. No, it's not very forward-looking though.

Screen: This is a tough one. I'm really going to have to have it in my hand and install some of my apps before I can say this is a worthy compromise or not. I would have preferred 480x480. I have absolutely zero problems with the square aspect ratio, the software will figure that out.

OS: If HP doesn't make Magneto available for free, they will be making a mistake. But with the delay who knows, it might come out with WM5 pre-installed.

All that said, the reason I am still interested in this device (or at least giving it the benefit of the doubt) is this: battery life

If it had a 500 or 600mhz cpu & a 480x480 screen would it last 3 days with the GSM radio on? I've seen one report on ipaqabilities.com that the hw6500 as is will do this. I am willing to consider sacrificing a bit to keep the standby time somewhere near what today's non-PDA cellphones will do.

I know that the h6320/h6325 will be released (or may actually be released now) in Canada for Rogers Wireless customers. I am not sure the information about Cingular is correct.
Looks like Jon just confirmed it here.
